NZM circuit breaker
novelties
Wood Dale, IL,
September 7, 2007
Circuit breakers of
the new C-series with 36 kA of short circuit
breaking capacity and nominal currents of 20 to 500
A are suited to the most common standard
applications. The capacity of the low-voltage
transformer determines the intensity of the
short-circuit current in the most prevalent
low-voltage radial networks. The 36 kA breaking
capacity of the new C-series prevails over the
highest short-circuit currents of the ordinary 630
kVA transformer class. Even in networks with
transformers of up to 1600 kVA, the economical
switches of the new C-switch series are the top
choice: They are modeled after the high-performance
circuit breakers of the modern Moeller NZM series
and also possess their positive features regarding
easy operation. Thanks to broad setting ranges, the
thermo-magnetic tripping devices can be adapted to
the allowable load currents of the equipment to be
protected. With the adequate accessories, the
circuit breakers of the new C-series lend themselves
to every use – in power distribution networks or in
the equipping of electrical machines.
Circuit breakers for DC current applications:
For DC current networks with up 750 V of operating
voltage and operating currents of up to 500 A, the
new NZM-A circuit breakers are the ideal protective
devices. Equipped with thermo-magnetic tripping
systems, they guarantee an accurate measurement of
the effective value for operating and residual
currents. The double-breaking contact systems allow
for safe switching in high-energy networks with up
to 60,000 amps of short-circuit current. Thanks to
the high DC-3 utilization category, these switches
can be used universally, to network replacement
batteries, and on to the demanding switching and
protecting of DC-shunt motors in reversing and
inching operation.
More capacity in a smaller space: NZM1 to
160A, NZM2 to 300A.The NZM1 and NZM2 circuit
breakers create space in the switching cabinet and
thus save costs - instead of the next-largest
design, users are now simply looking to the more
compact product developments of the NZM system
series. This combines two advantages: you can obtain
the same performance for up to 20 percent less of
the cost and, in doing so, you can also save a lot
of room. Up to one-fourth of the room to be
specific.
The innovative rear drives for 3-pole circuit
breakers and load disconnect switches offer an
economic and compact way to install switches and
door handles as a complete mounting unit to the
cabinet side panels or doors. Typical applications
are main switches, with or without an emergency OFF
function, with up to 300 A of nominal current, use
in processing machines or under crowded conditions
in general, since these switches do not require any
room on the mounting plate. In addition to the
optical advantage of a mounting “invisible” from
outside, this solution also offers easy and quick
access to connection terminals, adjustment handles,
over-voltage tripping units, and auxiliary switches.
With RMQ it is now possible to accommodate
double the amount of auxiliary and signaling
contacts in the same amount of room: Break/make
contact, make/make contact, or break/break contact
combinations can be supplied alternatively.
Up to ten contacts are now available,
depending upon the design size. The use of the RMQ
elements from the Moeller control unit program is
persuasive; this is how mass production can afford
having an attractive price structure. Use of the
system saves on storage costs.
Comfortable connector technology with frame
terminals for circuit breakers up to 500A.The new
offering of switches with frame terminals – above
and below – simplifies ordering and logistics.
Circuit breakers and load disconnect switches with
the type extension “-BT” are ready-wired for
installations of single or multiple-conductor cables
without wire end sleeves, as well as of laminated
copper bands.
