Safety-Related Control Relays
Wood Dale, IL,
March 31, 2008
The easy family,
consisting of the easyRelay (control relays),
easyHMI (HMI systems) and easyControl (compact PLCs),
covers a large number of applications in the
standard controller environment. From 2008 Moeller
will be presenting easySafety - its latest member of
the easy family. easySafety provides a solution for
safety-related tasks, whilst offering the simplicity
and flexibility of the easy family and the
performance of an easy800. The safety-related
control relay meets the highest requirements. This
complies with Category 4 in accordance with EN
954-1, PL e in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1, SILCL
3 in accordance with EN IEC 62061 as well as SIL 3
in accordance with EN IEC 61508. In the easySafety
environment, the Machinery Directive and the
relevant safety standards must be observed: The
Machinery Directive has to be observed without fail,
and compliance with the safety standards is highly
relevant in the event of damage. easySafety offers a
superb cost-efficient solution for safety-related
tasks that is tailored exactly to requirements.
The devices of the easySafety series come factory
shipped with a host of conventional safety relays in
the form of safety function blocks such as:
Emergency-stop, guard door monitoring optionally
with the monitoring of guard locking, light curtain
with and without muting, two-hand control button,
safety switch mat, enable switch, safety foot
switch, operating mode selector switch, zero and
overspeed monitoring, safety timing relay and safety
markers.
The safety function blocks of easySafety can either
be configured from a PC or directly on the device.
The easySoft-Safety PC software offers users a
convenient configuration environment. This enables
the safety configuration to be created, simulated in
the conventional easy circuit diagram language and
transferred to the device. If users do not wish to
utilise software or transfer cables, devices of the
easySafety series with integrated display and keypad
are also available. Modifications or complete
configurations can be carried out directly on the
device. The configuration created can be transferred
by memory card to the easySafety device.
An integrated device display offers benefits if a
fast and clear diagnostics function is required in
the form of a text display. If messages are not to
be hidden behind switch cabinet doors, the
information output can also be fitted in a switch
cabinet door - for this users can simply use the
remote MFD display unit in combination with a CP4
module. In this case the cost-efficient use of an
easySafety device without a display and keypad is
recommended.
easySafety offers more than a stand-alone safety
control relay. In addition to the safety circuit
diagram contained in the safety configuration, the
safety control relay also processes a standard
circuit diagram. This can be used for standard tasks
such as the processing of diagnostics messages or
the general control tasks on a machine.
The safety and standard circuit diagrams are
strictly separated on the easySafety. Both circuit
diagrams can be protected separately with up to
three different password levels. This allows access
by different groups of people so that they can view
and/or edit the unlocked circuit diagrams. If any
access to the safety configuration is to be
prevented, the person responsible simply locks the
safety program and destroys the virtual key. This
prevents the possibility of any subsequent
modifications. Any change on the safety
configuration causes a change in the safety
checksum. It is part of the technical documentation
and is subject to the declaration of conformity.
The easySafety devices offer 14 safety inputs and
either have four relay outputs or one redundant
output plus four transistor outputs. All outputs on
the device are designed as safety outputs. The
device inputs can be read in both circuit diagrams,
and the outputs can be write accessed either by the
safety or the standard circuit diagram.
easySafety adds safety applications to the easy
family perfectly: Many easy components can now also
be used with easySafety devices. If users require
other standard inputs and outputs for their standard
application, they simply use the expansions of the
easyRelay series. An easySafety device can also be
networked via the integrated easyNet with up to
seven other devices from the easy family. This
applies equally to easyRelay, easyHMI or easyControl
devices. Standard information can thus be exchanged
between the individual devices simply and
cost-efficiently. The connection to a PLC is also
ensured: Whether Profibus-DP, CANopen or DeviceNet -
the easy family already offers coupling modules that
can be used by easySafety devices.
easySafety is based on the simplicity of the easy
circuit diagram philosophy so that every current
easy user can quickly learn how to operate it. A
beginners' course provided in the online help of the
programming software makes it easy for beginners to
learn the use of easySafety and the easySoft-Safety
PC software.
